How much does a haircut cost in Casablanca?

Few salons publish their prices. Recorded in October 2026: a cut at 100 DH at a centre in the Hôpitaux district, a men's cut at 100 to 180 DH at a barber in Racine and 400 DH in its so-called VIP room, a child's cut for under-12s at 100 DH. The name-brand salons of Anfa and Maârif work by quote or over the phone.

Why is the advertised price not the one you pay?

Because a price given as “from” is the price of the simplest case: short hair, the smallest area, a single pass. The long-hair surcharge is universal and rarely mentioned up front — on one published Casablanca price list, the same treatment goes from 900 DH to 1 400 DH between short hair and long hair. Ask for the total for your own length before you sit down, treatment and styling included.

What is the difference between Brazilian straightening, keratin and hair botox?

Brazilian straightening and keratin lay a product on the hair and seal it in with a high-temperature iron: the effect fades over several weeks to several months. Hair botox has nothing to do with botulinum toxin; it is a trade name for a filler treatment, and it coats more than it straightens. None of the three breaks the curl permanently, unlike a relaxer.

Is a relaxer reversible?

No. A relaxer breaks the internal bonds of the hair and the treated part stays relaxed for good; the hair grows back in its natural texture at the root. The line where the two textures meet is the weak point, and that is where breakage happens during a transition. You either cut it short or trim it back gradually over a year or two while looking after the join.

Can I have a chemical colour on hennaed hair?

Always tell the colourist, even if the henna was months ago and even if it was sold as natural. Some preparations contain metallic salts that react with the oxidant: heat, smell and an unpredictable colour. The solution costs nothing: a test on a strand cut off and held away from the head, before anything touches the rest of your hair.

How long can you keep braids or a weave in?

Six to eight weeks is the limit commonly advised by specialist hairdressers. Beyond that the new growth pulls, the knots fuse together and taking the style out breaks hair. And if the fitting hurts or lifts the skin, it is too tight: repeated tension thins the temples and the hairline, a loss that is not always reversible.

How do you protect your hair from Casablanca's hard water?

A clarifying shampoo once a month to take off the deposit, a sulphate-free shampoo the rest of the time on coloured hair, a final rinse in cold water, and a shower-head filter if you wash often. After the beach or the pool, rinse with clean water as you come out; before you go in, wet your hair, because hair that is already saturated absorbs less.

Do you need a trial run before a wedding?

Yes, two to four weeks beforehand: any later and it would be too late to change your mind. Bring the outfit or a sharp photo of the neckline, the actual accessories and your reference photos, then photograph the result from three angles. Wash your hair the day before the wedding and not on the day itself, and change nothing — colour, straightening, a short cut — in the week leading up to it.
