coiffeur › Good to know › Bridal hair: the trial run, the plan for the night, the quote
Several takchitas, a négafa — the Moroccan wedding dresser and mistress of ceremonies — setting the pace, and hours of dancing: the hair has to hold all night. What has to be prepared, and what a quote really contains.
Hair for a Moroccan wedding is not a hairstyle, it is a schedule. The bride changes takchita several times over the night, the négafa sets the pace, and the hair has to survive the changes of outfit, the heavy headpieces, the heat of the hall and a few hours of dancing. What you prepare properly is the sequence, not the photograph.
Have a trial run two to four weeks beforehand. Not three days before, when it would be too late to change your mind; not three months before, by which time your hair will have moved on.
Come to the trial run with: the outfit or outfits, or at least a sharp photo of the neckline and the collar; the real accessories — tiara, brooch, veil, head jewellery — and the photos of what you want. The neckline and the collar decide the hairstyle far more than the shape of your face, and a takchita with a high collar rules out certain styles at the nape.
Photograph the result of the trial run from three angles, on your phone, in the light of the room and not only in front of the mirror. That photo is the one that will serve as the reference on the day.
This is the part that brides discover on the night itself. Several people need the same slot: the bride, her mother, her sisters, sometimes the bridesmaids. Every head adds time, and the négafa has a dressing schedule of her own.
What to settle in writing with the salon or the hairdresser:
A hairdresser who leaves after the first outfit and a hairdresser who stays until the third are not doing the same job and are not the same price. That is the first thing to clear up.
We found no published bridal-hair price list in Casablanca: the salons that offer the service — in Anfa, Maârif, Oasis and the Hôpitaux district — handle it by quote, and that is consistent, because no two weddings ask for the same work.
For comparison, an updo in a salon, outside any wedding, was listed from 150 DH in October 2026 at a centre in the Hôpitaux district. The gap between that and a bridal quote does not measure a profit margin: it measures hours of attendance.
The items that make up the quote:
Ask for the quote itemised line by line, and ask what happens if there is a delay — yours as well as hers.
Hammam and scrub three to four days beforehand. Facial: at least a week beforehand, and only if it is a treatment you already know. Waxing: a few days beforehand, never on the same day as the scrub. Manicure and pedicure: the day before or two days before. No new product on your skin or your hair in the ten days leading up to it — the simplest rule of all, and the one most often broken.
Spring and summer weekends are the wedding season in Casablanca, and the hairdressers in demand are booked months ahead. Block the date as soon as the venue is reserved, with a deposit and something in writing stating the arrival time and the length of attendance. A clear WhatsApp message, read back by both sides, is worth more than a verbal agreement that nobody remembers come June.
One request, and the relevant professionals get back to you.
